Aussie Cricket in the Doldrums

I recently posted the below email to yahoo newsroom.  So far there have been two feedback from others with opinions....

The problem is NOT with the player's....it's with the selectors and the useless chairman of selectors Hilditch. It's time to DITCH him and appoint someone else maybe Shane Warne,Rod Marsh we need aggressive selectors that are not afraid of making changes to improve the side. Also, the captain SHOULD have alot more say in selecting his team....after all he is the man incharge and he alone cops all the flack.

I AGREE ENTIRELY WITH RICK. THE SELECTORS MUST SHOULDER THE BLAME. There is too much money at stake for the players to stand up and say,I am out of form and will sit this match out, Clarke would have to drive a Holden again, with no hope of picking up another Bingle lookalike, as he has little else to interest, the women of the world or Australian Cricket Time is NOW to rebuild a Great Aussie Team

Cook may score more runs today than the entire Aussie team did in the first innings!!!!

Tennis

What agreat champion is Rafael Nadal

His game today was almost perfect in defeating Djokovic in 4 sets.

Rafa, is now after Federer's record of 2 Grand Slam victories...I think he will do it too.

I love his game he never complains or abuses umpires just goes about his game like a true champion.

Spain has produced many champions over the years.....but none like Rafa.

Well,I am looking forward in seeing him in Australia for the Australian open in January 2011.

AFL Finals Week 2

Wow, what a great game [almost as exciting as last weeks] watched the game with great interest!

Swans started very well against the Western Bulldogs however, as per last week they were overrun in
the 3rd and 4th quarters.

Carlton should have won last week....they missed some sitters and then an awful mistake on the back line,
and a free kick was given, a goal was scored, and that was it; Sydney by 5 points.

Ironically, Swans lost by 5 points against the Doggies.... I almost cried for them [not likely]

At long last the farewell season for Brett Kirk and coach Paul Roos ended [thank God].

New coach, John Longmire, takes over for season 2011 with a fair yet ageing list.

Roos coached Sydney for a long long time and has won one premiership by 4 points against the Eagles.

Anyway, now for week 3 of the finals with the Magpies vs Cats game Friday night and then Saints vs Dogs
on Saturday night with the 2 winners playing off for the Premiership cup on Saturday the 25th afternoon.

My prediction; Geelong vs St Kilda as per last year...and same result Cats, by a whisker.

I am out of here now good luck to all teams talk soon.

Happy AFLing to all,

Rick.

September AFL Finals

Well second week of finals fever and surprise surprise Geelong smashes the pretenders Fremantle Dockers.

Tonight Saturday the Western Bulldogs take on Sydney Swans....my prediction Dogs by 15 to 25 points.

So,with the Dogs winning tonight means next weeks Prelim.would be Geelong vs Collingwood
Dogs vs St.Kilda.

Grand Final to be Geelong vs St.Kilda
Same as 2009 and same result.Geelong by 19 points.

There now you have it by the "Guru" of Footy.

Elimination Final.

Well it is now 8.40pm about 2 hours since the game finished and Iam still devastated.
It proves that you can not give anyside a four or five goal start and go on and win.
Having said though the courageous young "Baby Blues"almost snatched it....losing by 5 points.

Mad Monday for the player's will commence at ten am and go till Friday or until they drown their sorrow.
Player's will have an eight week break and then preseason training will commence and I guess...get ready for season 2011 and hopefully break into the top four and thus qualify for a home final and a double chance.

Anyway, good season for the young Blues and hopefully with better recruitments during trade period and extra training more conditioning to the light weights and the extreme disappoitment of season 2010 might inspire the boys to get to that top four in season 2011.
